Back to back races brings our best SKUSA finish...
Scottracing finished up a busy weekend with a fourth place finish in the SKUSA Mission Regional at Lake Perris, CA. After finding and fixing a vexing series of new ways to break, Carl qualified the CRG third out of 10. Our Superdyne power was strong, but we believe that the starter must have been named Randy Johnson, as Carl "struck out" with three poor starts in the two heats and main, but in spite he passed four people in the main to finish fourth about 100 yards back. We were thrilled to have nailed the setup for the main on a track that Carl characterized as "sticker than an IKF Regional, but less than a grandnational" Getting experience with the high grip was our objective and we achieved this through driving and setup. The top three finishers are all on their way to the SKUSA finals in Oklahoma and include the number two ranked SKUSA junior, Mike Abbate of Nevada as well as his Birel teammate Dominique Classens who won.
Saturday Night's Phoenix club race provided technical challenges as the fuel system failed and we thrashed to reconfigure it. Running on dead tires, Carl dogged new club hotshoe Chris #7 all through the main, but just couldn't carry enough corner speed to use his superior horsepower to make the pass to win. "I would have won with new tires" is not an excuse this time. Never the less, we maintained our points totals with this double points placing.
